Born in TOKYO, JAPAN. Since she saw the costumes of Disney characters in Florida, USA, at 5 years old, she started believing in being a fashion designer.
Graduating from two universities, first in Tokyo and then studying womenswear at university in UK.
She has work experience as internship in fashion labels in both, London and New York.
Right after graduation, she moved back to Japan, to work as a designer at a fashion label in Tokyo.
June 2017, she started creating her own collection for spring summer 18.
Taking ideas from inherited pieces gives us tons of information and the idea through my experience living in cultures of Japan,
USA and UK lets me transform the inspirations to new creations, by the original perspectives.
The process gives birth to garments, which is not to flatter ‘TRENDS’.
Silhouette and details constructed by pattern cutting, inspired by the research of finishing details based on the periodical background.
The stereotypes of beauties and cuteness have been deeply rooted all over the world.
It created the guideline of judgment and people feeling secure, being in the sort of groups but also gives uncomfortable feeling by categorizing.
Even though, when you try to get out of the box, and express your own identity,
I do hope our creation, RURI.W could be one of your choice and a tool to assist you by the power its self has.
